**About the role**
Common Core is an inner source project within Lockheed Martin Canada centered around the CMS 330 product. The Common Core developer will work with a team dedicated to retooling an existing legacy codebase to allow code reuse, while still allowing program customization as needed. The developer will communicate design ideas to the product owner, development team, and other stakeholders using tools such as user flows, journey diagrams, interface mock-ups, wireframes, and prototypes. They will implement these designs using primarily Java. As an inner source project, the team’s primary stakeholders are internal developers, across multiple in-progress Programs within Lockheed Martin Canada. Responsibilities :
- Conduct user research and translate findings into design concepts - Create wireframes, mock-ups, and interactive prototypes of potential UX/UI solutions - Develop responsive and accessible user interfaces using the JavaFX Framework - Consume, define, and integrate DDS-based APIs - Optimize applications for reusability, robustness, and clarity - Use version control systems like Git for collaboration and project management - Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code - Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.

- Current university or college student in a relevant field - Aptitude for programming and debugging with the latest tools - Java Programming - Version Control
**Additional skills desired for the role**
- Git and/or GitLab - Visual Studio Code and/or IntelliJ - Jira - Linux - Shell Scripting - JavaFX - Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modelling - Publication/Subscription based Messaging Systems (DDS) - Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes - Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery (CD) pipelines experience in GitLab or Jenkins - Semantic Versioning - Inner Source - Legacy Codebases
**Language Requirements in Quebec**
Knowledge of the English language is required for this role as the position described in this posting requires the candidate to communicate every day with a virtual team outside Quebec as well as communicate with different members of the organization, clients and suppliers located outside of Canada. For engineering positions, the candidate must also be able to read or modify technical documents from our main clients and write technical documents for these same clients.
