**Description**
The **Research Centre** in the **Faculty of Social Work** invites applications for a **Junior Data Analyst**. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 5 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
The Junior Data Analyst will report to the PI of the project in the Faculty of Social Work. As per the project requirements, the successful candidate will split their accountabilities between the University of Calgary and Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC) and must be committed for the duration of the employment period.
The hybrid recurring part-time position requires up to 15 hours per week and is in Calgary. Tasks of the project include, but are not limited to, contributing to the design of knowledge translation activities, collecting and analyzing quantitative data, and data visualization. The hours of this work are flexible, although attendance at regularly scheduled in-person/virtual research team meetings is required, bi-weekly. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required depending on the project needs.
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Analyzing internal and external datasets, integrating insights from Salesforce to support data-driven projects. - Developing and maintaining visually compelling dashboards in Power BI to facilitate informed decision-making. - Conducting statistical analysis to uncover trends and providing practical recommendations for operational improvements. - Ensuring high-quality data standards by managing data integrity and applying preprocessing techniques. - Identifying data quality issues, investigating the root cause, and working with the project team members and ISC staff to resolve them. - Developing and documenting reproducible data preparation workflows (e.g., Python Scripts, Jupyter Notebooks, standardized Excel templates, etc.). - Ensuring that all data handling complies with relevant privacy, confidentiality, and ethical guidelines, particularly in relation to sensitive community and client information.
**Qualifications / Requirements:**
- Management, or a related field, with an emphasis on statistical and analytical skills is required. - Proficiency in Power BI, Python, MS Excel, SQL, and Salesforce required. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively are required. - Knowledge of survey data analysis and familiarity with survey tools strong asset. - Detail-oriented, with a focus on maintaining data quality and integrity. - Self-motivated, self-driven, and an eagerness to learn. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team. - Interest in scientific writing and productivity is an asset. - Experience with version control and reproducible analytics practices.
