Full Description
**The Opportunity**
As an AI Solutions Developer Intern, you'll work directly with our development and strategy team to design, prototype, and implement AI-powered features that enhance our quality management and manufacturing execution systems. This is a hands-on role where you'll create real features that impact how manufacturers work.
**You'll be working on projects like, but not specific to:**
- Building AI-assisted document analysis for quality records and supplier documentation. - Developing intelligent defect classification and root cause suggestion tools. - Creating natural language interfaces for querying manufacturing data. - Prototyping predictive quality features using production data. - Integrating large language model APIs into existing .NET/web applications.
**Required Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Knowledge of fine tuning LLM’s, use of trainable models (Llama, Phi, Qwen), setting up open-source models.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and web services.
- Understanding of AI/ML concepts, particularly large language models.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Clear ability to speak English, the position requires verbal communication with clients.
**Required Skills**
- Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI).
- Proficiency in RAG & fine tuning LLMs.
- Knowledge of .NET, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with SQL databases.

**Program Eligibility**
This position is funded through the NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) Youth Employment Program. To be eligible, you must be:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the internship
- A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada
- A post-secondary graduate
- Legally entitled to work in Ontario
- Not currently receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits

Pay: $1,153.84 per week
